In this class you will learn the very basics of working with silver clay

Silver clay is one of a range of metal clays. All metals clays are fine metal powder mixed with a binder to create malleable clay that can be moulded, textured, rolled and cut out. The clay is then dried and fired with a torch or a kiln to produce a solid piece of metal. Silver clay fires to fine silver (pure enough to be hallmarked); on the silver scale fine silver is called 999 (999 parts per 1000 pure silver – in relation Sterling silver is called 925).

This class is a great introduction to silver clay. In the time allowed you will be able to make at least 3 to 5 small charms. You will have the chance to torch fire some of the charms, though due to time constraints if all students have multiple charms, Sian may need take some charms home to be kiln fired and then posted back to you.

Absolutely no experience is needed and you do not need to be skilled or particularly creative, just willing to come along and have some fun. The tools provided will allow you to create beautiful jewellery with ease.

A 7g pack of silver clay is provided for the class (worth £15), which is enough to make many charms if you work small. All tools are provided and you will be able to purchase earring hooks and chains for pendants on the day.

The class is from 7-9.30pm and is being held at Kiln House Studios, Badshot Farm Lane, Badshot Lea, GU9 9HY. This is next to Squires Garden Centre in between Aldershot and Farnham.

Due to using a very hot torch, it is not a child friendly class. No under 16’s will be allowed to attend unless a parent is booked onto the same class as them and is happy to take responsibility for the child when using a torch.

If you cancel 4 weeks or more before the class we will refund 100% of the class price. If you cancel within 4 weeks of the class we will not provide a refund. We allow the booking to be transferred to another person of your choice but we shall not be involved in any financial agreement or transfer of payment between you and the person taking your place. In the event that you cannot attend a class and find someone to take your place please email Sian with the person’s details as far in advance of the class as possible.

In order to run, the course will need a minimum of 4 students. If the course doesn’t reach the minimum requirement, it may need to be cancelled and all fees will be refunded. The class maximum is 8, when all 8 places have been sold this course will show as out of stock.
