About Impressions

Our mould impressions are made with fine plaster of paris. They are not waterproof, plaster will suck up water! So any clay will stick to the impression unless you coat with a fine layer of release agent.

Our preference is CoolSlip as it’s a liquid and you can use it with a fine paintbrush to coat the impression. You do not need a lot of release agent. CoolSlip UK (metalclay.co.uk/coolslip), CoolSlip USA (cooltools.us/CoolSlip)

Other things like Olive oil or Badger Balm may work though we have not tested our impressions with them. Thicker agents may cause the finer details to become blocked and not impress very well.

Please watch the short video below to see how we use the impressions.
